Rev. Phyllis Ann Pelletier, M.Div., age 78, retired Pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at her home, with her many friends at her side.
Phyllis was born on May 16, 1944, in Brunswick, ME, a daughter of the late Irenee Blaise & Clair Laudia Pelletier Pelletier. She graduated from Brunswick High in 1962. She attended Northeastern University and then Thayer Hospital School of Medical Technology in Waterville, ME. She then worked for 26 years as a Medical Technologist.
In 1986 she graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a degree in Psychology and then followed by a degree in Counseling in 1989. In 1993 she graduated from the Lutheran Seminary at Gettysburg, PA, with a Master’s of Divinity Degree.
Her first Pastoral duties were in Caribou and Stockholm, ME. In 1996 she pastored at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Springtown, PA, until 2002. From 2002 until her retirement in 2009, she pastored at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nanticoke, PA. She enjoyed retirement for 5 years, until 2014, when she returned back to the pulpit, to serve in Sullivan County, PA. She “retired” once again in August of 2019 after serving as the Pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, at Zion Chapel in Dushore and St. John’s Chapel in Wilmot, and also in Trinity Chapel in Mildred until its closing.
Up until two weeks ago when her health started failing, she was actively continuing Gods work and supplying pastoral duties for several churches in the Nanticoke area and continued to offer home visits to her former congregation members in Sullivan County.
She was a member of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America). She was also a member of AA, with over 43 years of sobriety.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, and music. She also loved animals, especially her cats.

Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Zion Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Dushore, PA, with the Rev. Robert W. Brown, officiating.
