Newton G. Pendleton

Newton G. Pendleton, age 85, of Eagles Mere, PA, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022.

          Newt was born March 2, 1937, in Boston, MA, son of the late Newton G. & Margery Bacon Pendleton.  He graduated from Lenox Academy, Lenox, MA, and from the Norwich Military Academy, Northfield, VT.

          Newt married Martha Hunter of Elmira, NY, on June 27, 1959, and they resided in Elmira, NY, until retiring to Eagles Mere.  He was the Chair of Newton Pendleton, Inc., an insurance brokerage firm in Elmira, NY.  He was a salesman extraordinaire, but his motto was “to serve, not to be served unto.”  He was a former Director of the Holcombe Group, and Sullivan County Action, Inc., and strong supporter of the Laporte- Eagles Mere Lions Club.  He was the founding Vice Chairman of the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT). 

          He personally enjoyed golf, skiing, sailing, and fishing.  He always enjoyed a good party and those with a strong sense of humor. He truly misses those who have gone before, too early.

Surviving: are his son, Newton G. Pendleton III (Tripp) and his wife Katrine, their children, Henry and Anne; his daughter, Sara H. Pendleton and her children Ted & Rob;

          Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at the Eagles Mere Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John H. Clark, officiating.  Interment will be private in the Eagles Mere Cemetery.

          Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water Street, Dushore, PA
