Irene Hannah Karge

Irene Hannah Karge, age 88, of Dushore, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, October 5, 2023, at the Highlands Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, in Laporte, PA.

Irene was born in New Albany, PA, on August 31, 1935, a daughter of the late Walter Clarence and Helen Eileen Farrell Karge.  

Irene worked at the former Sullcraft Mfg. Co. of Dushore, and Endicott Johnson Shoe Mfg. Co. of Mildred, PA, and retired from Dushore Lingerie of Dushore, PA.

She enjoyed living and spending her time on the family farm and loved to watch television and enjoyed her cats and dogs, especially her beloved dog Hershey.

She was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA.

She is also survived by several great nieces and great nephews and numerous cousins.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister and brother in law, Eunice E. Richart on April 28, 2018, and Francis T. Richart on August 19, 2015.

A Transferal Service will be held on Monday morning, October 9, 2023, at 10:00 AM and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, with the Rev. Thomas J. Major, her pastor, presiding.  Interment will follow in the Peace Cemetery, Dushore, PA.

Friends and family may call on Monday morning, October 9, 2023, from 9:30 AM until the start of the transferal at 10:00 AM.
