Aileen Ann Stewart

Aileen Ann Stewart, age 87, formerly of Lopez, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the home of her son in Clarksville, TN.

          Aileen was born January 19, 1935, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the daughter of the late James Patrick & Mercedes “Sadie” Faltz Kelly.  She graduated from the GAR High School a member of the class of 1953.  She Married Stewart S. Stewart Jr. of Nanticoke, PA, on June 19, 1955, after his discharge from the United States Navy, serving in Korea.  Stewart predeceased her on April 15, 2011, after almost 55 years of marriage.

          They resided in Levittown, PA, until retiring to their home on Dutch Mountain, in 2004.

          Aileen worked in Retail for JC Penny’s and Gimbels.

          She enjoyed reading and Notre Dame Football, however her greatest joy was spending time with her family. While in Sullivan County, she volunteered many hours at the Sullivan County Loan Closet.

          Aileen was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mildred, PA, and also was a member of the Dushore American Legion Post #996 Auxiliary.

Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by four siblings: Patrick Kelly, Kathleen Joseph, Peggy Jarvis, and Mary Carr.

            A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 19, 2022, in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Mildred, PA, with Rev. Thomas J. Major, presiding.

Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

          Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA 18614.
