Yvonne "Vonnie" Annette Jugan, a devoted educator, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, on June 28, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Paul Mowrey and Eva Jennart.

Vonnie graduated from Spring City High School in 1955 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Elizabethtown College. Her love of teaching led her to a fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher, where she dedicated nearly 30 years of her life to nurturing young minds.

On December 23, 1961, Vonnie married Frederick Donald Jugan, at East Vincent United Church of Christ in Spring City, PA. After Fred was discharged from the Navy in 1963, they settled near Phoenixville, PA, where they raised their two children Jeanette and Donald. During this time, Vonnie spent much of her career as a first-grade teacher at French Creek Elementary School in the Owen J. Roberts School District.

In 1984, Vonnie and Fred began operating the Rock Hill Tree Farm near Dushore, PA, which became their full-time home in 1993 after her retirement from teaching.

She enjoyed extensive travel throughout North America and the Caribbean. She was an avid fan of football, from high school to college and the NFL, cheering enthusiastically for the Owen J. Roberts Wildcats, the Penn State Nittany Lions, or the Philadelphia Eagles. She loved solving word puzzles and engaging in spirited word games with family and friends. Her love of word games was only rivaled by her passion for reading, particularly crime fiction.

Vonnie was actively involved in the community. She regularly shared her enthusiasm for literature as a member of the Dushore Tuesday book Club. She served on the Area Aging Volunteer Advisory Council, contributing her time and energy to improving the lives of senior citizens in her area.

Vonnie was a deeply faithful woman, and her spiritual home was St. Paul's Bible Church, where she was an active and dedicated member.

Above all, Vonnie was a loving and devoted family member and friend. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be forever missed by those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frederick Jugan; her daughter Jeanette and son-in-law Terry Kratovil; her son Donald and daughter-in-law Nancy Jugan; her three grandsons, Kevin Kratovil, Thomas Kratovil, and Gabriel Jugan; and her great-grandson, Gustav Kratovil-Peyroux.

Vonnie was predeceased by her parents, her infant son D. Paul Jugan, and her two sisters and their husbands, Marion Jane and Joseph McGinty, and Virginia and Dr. Arthur Wilkinson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26th, 2024, at 2:00 PM at St. Paul's Bible Church, 781 Overton Rd, New Albany, PA, 18853, co-officiated by her current pastor, Pastor Ronald L. Dyer and her former pastor, Pastor Darcy Miller.

Following the service, a fellowship meal will be held at the church. A private interment will take place at a later date in the East Vincent United Church of Christ Cemetery, Spring City, PA.

In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made as donations to the Friends of the Sullivan County Library, PO Box 485, Dushore, PA 18614.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
