William R. Stoddard, age 81, of Sugar Run, Pa, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at the Wyalusing Personal Care Home. William was born on March 7, 1936, a son of the late Hiram and Gertrude Vose Stoddard. After high school, William enlisted in the United States Army, and was stationed in Korea amongst other places. After being honorably discharged he came back to Sugar Run, where he began working at Welles Mill Co, from which he retired in 1991 after 31 years of service. He met and married Rita Gainer of Dushore on February 27, 1963. She predeceased him on September 12, 2011. They resided on the family farm in Sugar Run, where William operated their dairy business along with his brother Martin. William loved spending time with his family and friends. He took many family camping trips to Cowanesque Lake. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and also liked hunting, fishing, and trapping. He enjoyed going to vintage tractor shows and flea markets. William was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Wyalusing, PA. Surviving Son: Stanley (Michelle) Stoddard Kane, PA Daughters and sons-in-law: Sharon (Russell) Prevost Meshoppen, PA Susan (Brett) DiMassimo Williamsport, PA Joanne (Ken) Wettlauffer Williamsport, PA Joyce Chipolis Wyalusing, PA Grandchildren: Logan, Connor, Prescott, Johnathan, Jessica, Nicole, Angelia, Rebekah, Kahla, Brittani, Kenny, Megan, Jacob, Emily, Hailey, Cassie, and Madelyn. Great-grandchildren: Bella, Xavier, Ryleigh, Zyler, Layla, Trey, and Rico. Sister: Hila Hunsinger Elmira, NY Brother: Lahman Stoddard Sugar Run, PA Sister-in-law: Dorothy Stoddard Sugar Run, PA Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Ronald Stoddard on November 19, 1991, and Randy Stoddard on June 30, 2011, his brother Martin Stoddard on July 17, 1988, son-in-law Joseph Chipolis on March 13, 2013, and also by a nephew Ralston Hunsinger. A Transferal Service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 9:30 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Wyalusing, PA with the Rev. Joseph J. Manarchuck, his pastor, presiding. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Stowell, PA. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the P.
