Shirley Ann Setzer Taffe, age 83, well known Dushore resident, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019, at her home.

She was born in Mildred, PA, on June 21, 1935, a daughter of the late Albert & Rose Bishop Setzer. She graduated from Turnpike High School, a member of the class of 1953.

Shirley married Thomas Girard Taffe of Wilmot, PA, on August 21, 1954, at St. Basils Church. They were married 50 ½ years when Thomas passed on March 3, 2005.

In 1986 Shirley began working as a certified nursing assistant at the nursing home in Laporte until her retirement in 2004.

Shirley liked to read, watch TV, do search word puzzles, and travel. She attended the World’s Fair in 1964 and in 1979, and she was blessed to see Pope John Paul with the St. Basils group. She loved her family and friends and was blessed with wonderful sisters and brothers-in-law. Shirley looked forward to her family reunion every year. The past few years, she especially enjoyed watching her beloved “grand pup” Buddy on weekends.
