Shirley Norconk

          Shirley Norconk, age 91, of Wilmot, PA, passed away on Monday, June 04, 2018, at her home with her loving family at her side.

          Shirley was born November 8, 1926, in Lopez, PA, the daughter of the late Ernest & Lila Mae Steafather Fiocca.  She graduated from the Dushore High School a member of the class of 1944 and was a music major at Mansfield University.

          She married Raymond Norconk of Wilmot, on December 23, 1944.  They celebrated their 68^th wedding anniversary before Ray’s passing on September 11, 2013. In her younger years, she worked for Bill & Lucy Sick at their Ben Franklin Store in Dushore, PA. She also worked for Dr. Karl Peterson in Wyalusing, PA.  Shirley was a key partner in the success of the family farm in Wilmot Township. 

          She also served on the American Field Service Selection Committee for the Wyalusing School District and hosted an AFS student, Louise Wolzak Tjoonk, of the Netherlands.  Known for her musical talent, she sang and played for many functions over her lifetime, which included being the organist at St. John’s Lutheran Chapel.  She was an active member of the Dushore Music Club for over 70 years.

          She was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Her greatest love of all was her family.

          Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Norconk; brother and sister-in-law; Duane “Skip” (Elizabeth) Fiocca; sisters-in-law:  Arlene (Lewis) Neuber, Marian (Douglas) Blemle, and Rachel (Paul) Miller; and a brother-in-law, Charles Slawta.

          Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday, June 7^th, 2018, from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and followed by a Service at St. John’s Chapel, Wilmot, PA at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Phyllis A. Pelletier, her pastor, officiating.  Interment will be in the Norconk Cemetery.

          Friends may call on Wednesday, June 6^th from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
