Robert David Klarsch

               Mr. Robert D. Klarsch, age 77, of Lewisburg, PA, formerly of Eagles Mere, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 with his loving spouse Ellen at his side.   Bob was born in Danville, PA on July 3, 1940, the oldest son of the late Joseph H. & Kathleen A. Dewald Klarsch.  He graduated from the Danville High School in 1958 and received his A.B. from Brown University in Providence, RI, in 1962.  In addition he received his M.A. from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.   Bob began his career teaching and coaching at The Winchendon School and Cushing Academy, both in Massachusetts. In 1972 he became Dean of Students at Wyoming Seminary, in Kingston, PA. In 1983 he became Headmaster at Annie Wright Schools in Tacoma, WA where he remained for 18 years before retiring.  Bob was a leader in the educational community where he served as President of the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools and was on the board of the National Association of Independent Schools.     He was married to his first wife, Barbara (Merritt) Klarsch of Clearfield, PA from June 1963 until she passed away in 2003. He wed Ellen Toole of Seattle, WA, on July 24, 2004.  They recently celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary.   Bob built his summer residence in Eagles Mere in 1974 and became a year round resident in 2004. He was an active member of the Eagles Mere Country Club and enjoyed golf, traveling, reading and socializing.  He was a former board member of the Eagles Mere Association and the Eagles Mere Friends of the Arts.  He was also involved in community service and was a member of the Eagles Mere Laporte Lions Club.   Surviving: Spouse: Ellen Klarsch   Lewisburg, PA                     Daughter: Merritt (Travis) Pulliam            Houston, TX   Stepson: Randy (Erika) O’Toole            New York, NY   Brother: Daniel Klarsch                Livingston, TX   Sister: Susan Brennan                Perkasie, PA   Granddaughter: Georgia Pulliam   One niece (Kate Brennan) and two nephews (Chris Brennan and Tim Brennan)   Memorial contributions in his memory can be directed to Annie Wright Schools, 827 N.
