Mr. Richard Ace Silverstrim, age 78, of Dushore, PA, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital ER with his loving wife, Josie, at his side.
Dick as he was known by his family and friends, was born on May 5, 1946, a son of the late William and Ina Mae Cole Silverstrim. He graduated from Sullivan County High School, a member of the class of 1964, after which he studied engineering. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1966 until 1968. He married the former Josephine Rose Broschart on July 20, 1968.
He retired from Procter & Gamble in 2001, after 33 years of service.
He was a member of St. Basil’s Church in Dushore, PA, and also a member of the Dushore Fire Co. While his children were young, he was active in their affairs, serving as a Cub Scout Leader and a Little League Coach.
Dick enjoyed all things outdoors: gardening, hiking the woods, and traveling with family through the National & State Parks systems. He was a talented woodworker. He was a Penn State Master Gardener, and for years maintained the flowers and plantings around St. Basil’s Church, along with his wife. However his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
