Mr. Paul Pastusic, age 96, of Mildred, PA, passed away on Friday morning, February 23, 2018, at UPMC Susquehanna Medical Center in Williamsport, PA.
Paul was born on Sugar Hill, PA, on July 4, 1921, son of the late Peter and Sophia Say Pastusic. He attended local schools and began working in area coal mines. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 and served with distinction until 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and served in the infantry in Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Northern Appenines, and Central Europe.
Returning from the War, he married the former Emma Morris of Powell in Mildred, PA on April 15, 1947. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary, before her death on July 9, 2010.
Paul worked for over 52 years in the coal mines, with the Bernice Coal Co., in Mildred, and also in Shamokin and in the Pocono’s. He was also an accomplished truck and tractor mechanic.
Paul was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, in Mildred, PA, and a member of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA.

He was predeceased by his wife: Emma Morris Pastusic on July 9, 2010; a son: Peter (Corkey) Pastusic on Nov. 9, 1999; a daughter Toni K. Cobb on Sept. 14, 2003; a grandson, Paul J. Pastusic on April 29, 1989; a sister, Mary Moyer, and six brothers: infant Peter Pastusic, Joseph Pastusic, Michael Pastusic, Stanley Pastusic and John Pastusic and Francis Pastusic.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 28th, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Mildred, PA with the Rev. Richard Rojas, presiding.
Graveside Military Honors will be accorded by members of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, and by the US Army Honor’s Detail.
Funeral are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA 18614.
