Mary Elizabeth Bread Meadows was born January 10, 1925, to the late Albert Beard and Helen Lawson Beard in Virginia. She departed this earth on January 27, 2021, peacefully in Pennsylvania. Mary lived to be 96 years old. She lived the majority of her adult life in New York City. Mary worked doing many jobs and had employers who valued her expertise and experience. Mary met Mr. Luther Galbreath, who brought together their beloved daughter Helen Galbreth Garner Bell. To whom she spoiled with the best of love and everything else. Later she married Mr. Edward Meadows. Mary was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. Although she was a private person she extended her help to those in need. Mary had an amazing smile with a loving heart and always gave out great advice. She was also called Betty or Mitty to some. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing clothes, making beautiful outfits, knitting, and playing Pokeno. She enjoyed waking up in the morning and going to McDonald's having her morning coffee with some of her neighborly friends. After she ran all her errands and made it home she would then settle down to watch The Price is Right on channel 2. In the evening she would watch The Channel 7 News followed by Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Her nightly routine consisted of some phone calls from family who all knew not to call during her shows because she would quickly rush you off the phone telling you to call her back! It also didn’t matter what age you were, grown-ups and all she would rush you to go home and get out of the unsafe streets. But most of all she loved spending time talking and laughing with her grandchildren.
Mary leaves behind one sister Maxine Helen Bread. She leaves to continue her Legacy, Her daughter Helen Galbeth Garner Bell. Grandchildren, Abdullah, Denise Armstrong, Melvin Bell Jr, Valerie Colman (Paul Colman), Buji Victoria Marc (Gregory Marc), and Oleapper Pimentel (Hiram Pimentel). 21 great grandchildren, 26 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
