Martha Switzer

           Martha Bryson Switzer, age 73, of Eagles Mere, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 04, 2020 at the RiverWoods Retirement Community, in Lewisburg, PA.

          Martha was born December 6, 1946, in Pottsville, PA, the daughter of the late John Chalmers Bryson, M.D., and Martha Laubenstein.  She graduated from Emma Willard School, and from Briarcliffe College.

          Martha was a Certified Financial Planner and worked with various banking institutions.

          She married W. David Switzer, whom she met in Eagles Mere, which was his most enduring and favorite place. He predeceased her on August 2, 2011.  They were both life-long summer residents, and retired to Eagles Mere in 2002.

          Martha was social and learned, as an avid reader of the classics and history, she traveled the seven Continents and 48 of our states.  She and Dave visited museums, and especially enjoyed visiting National Parks and Williamsburg.  They also enjoyed cruises on smaller ships.  They had a part time residence in Tucson, AZ.

          She was an artist, using many mediums; pencil, paints, needlework and crafts.  A lifelong learner, she took classes at: Arizona Desert Museum, Bucknell University, and Bloomsburg University.  She enjoyed, TV news, stock market, PBS, History and Learning channels.  She played golf, bridge, mahjong, bingo and dominos.

          She loved her family, especially nieces and nephews (Aunt Martha was a Favorite!), her dog and constant companion, Muffin.  She loved Eagles Mere and was active in the EMA, EMCC, and Eagles Mere Museum.

          She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Bryson Sigstedt of Capitola, CA; sisters-in-law: Susan (Gary) Simpkins, of  Hernando, FL; and Ann (Don) Johns, of Danville, PA; and nieces and nephews: Tara (Kris) Pack, Dylan Sigstedt and Sophia Sigstedt, G. Timothy (Joann) Simpkins, Karen (Richard) DiMezzo, Christopher (Heather) Johns, Andrew (Sandra) Johns and great nieces and nephews: Abraham Pack, Torsten Pack, Signe Pack, Lauren Simpkins, Ben DiMezzo, Grace DiMezzo, Isabella Johns, Sophia Johns, Olivia Johns & Grayson Johns. 

          Martha was predeceased by a brother, John F. Bryson.   

          A service will be announced in the future.
