Mrs. Marilyn G. Miller, age 84, of Laporte, PA passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Center with her loving family at her side. Marilyn was born in Butler, PA the daughter of the late Samuel J. & Alice D. Barber Patten. She graduated from the Butler High School, a member of the class of 1950. She married her loving spouse James William Miller of Butler, PA on June 7, 1952. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary before his passing on August 9, 2010. She and Jim lived in DE, NJ, PA, and in VA during his 39 year career with JC Penny’s. They moved to their permanent residence in Laporte in 1980. Marilyn was a member of the Laporte United Methodist Church and a member of the Lake Mokoma Association, the Laporte Women’s Club, the Mokoma Conservancy, and the Eagles Mere Country Club. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and traveling between, PA, NJ, MD, VA and KS to visit her kids and grandkids. Surviving: five children and spouses, Warren J. & Debbie Miller of Bridgeville, PA; Cheryl and David Bremer, Millersville, MD; Mark and Eileen Miller, Leawood, Kansas City, KS; Wendy & Dennis O'Connell, Cliffside Park, NJ; and Claudia & Tom Clark, Lumberton, NJ; a sister Janice Sue (Ronald) Vavro; a sister-in-law: Gloria Patten. She was a loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister: Maxine Buffington, two brothers: T. William Patten and Robert Patten. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler, PA, with the Rev. Ginger DiTullio officiating.
