Mrs. Margaret R. Dabback, age 87 of Wyalusing, PA and wife of Rev. John H. Dabback, went to be with her Lord and Savior at home with loved ones at her side Tuesday evening, March 6, 2018.
Margaret was born on August 20, 1930, in Bryn Mawr, PA, a daughter of the late Frederick M. & Ruth Miller Robb Sr. She graduated from Lower Merion Sr. High School as a member of the class of 1948. She earned a Bachelor of Sacred Music degree in 1952 from Eastern Baptist College, now Eastern University. In 1954 she received a Master’s Degree in Religious Education from Eastern Baptist Seminary. She was commissioned by Philadelphia Presbytery and worked as a Director of Religious Education in different churches in the Philadelphia area prior to her marriage.
On September 14, 1957, she married John Hendrickson Dabback, whom she had known since childhood, at the Narberth Presbyterian Church. They raised their family and have enjoyed 60 years of devoted partnership in ministry and marriage.
While living in Duncannon, PA she was a summer staff member of Synod School at Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA. After relocating to Hallstead, PA with her young family in 1972 she served as the Director of Music and organist at the Hallstead Presbyterian Church for close to 20 years. She also spent several summers as a camp director at Camp Lackawanna in Vosburg, PA. In 1995 Margaret and John retired to Second Street in Wyalusing and she served as the Choir Director and Organist at the Towanda Presbyterian Church until the early 2000s. She became a member of the Sugar Run Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder and part-time organist. Margaret was very active in the Wyalusing Musical Society.
Margaret enjoyed genealogy, reading, knitting, and traveling. A lifelong music lover, she enjoyed singing, playing, and going to concerts. Her greatest joy was her family, and she cherished the hours spent with them... She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, and all who knew her will miss her.
