Mrs. Mabel S. Gamble, age 90, of Sugar Run, PA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, on Friday, August 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Mabel was born in Lowman, NY, on March 7, 1932, a daughter of the late Sterl and Elizabeth Miller Smith. She graduated from Laceyville High School. She married Earlyn D. “Bill” Gamble on November 6, 1950, and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage before his passing on November 6, 2011.
After getting married she and Bill started their family in Sugar Run, where they raised their four children. During that time Mabel worked as the Sugar Run Postmaster General, before transferring to Wyalusing where she continued as the Postmaster until retirement.
She was a member of the Wyalusing Valley Chapter no 523, Order of the Eastern Star. Mabel was also a member of the Wyalusing Methodist Church.
Mabel enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked to sew, knit, and crochet, having made the bears for the Wyalusing Football Booster Club. She was excellent at cooking and baking and she was well known for her apple pie.

Besides her parents and husband, Mabel was predeceased by her son, Daniel E. Gamble on October 6, 2012, and her son-in-law Tony Adams on July 8, 2017. She was also predeceased by a sister, Marie Decker, two brothers; Richard Smith and Edward “Bill” Smith, and two sister-in-law’s; Ruth Ann Smith and Norma Baldwin.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in the Wyalusing Cemetery.
