Leroy Ronald Howett, age 79, of Wilmot, Bradford County, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, September 2, 2024, at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte.

Ron, as he was known by his family and friends, was born on October 5, 1944, in Chester, PA, a son of the late Barclay H. and Virginia M. Dixon Howett. He graduated from Chester High School as a member of the class of 1962. He honorably served his country in the United States Army in the 586th Engineer Company during the Vietnam War. On June 3, 1988, he married the former Kathryn Evelyn Houlis. Kathy predeceased Ron on February 17, 2022.

He worked for most of his early career at Autocar, a division of White Motor Company, on the manufacturing of large trucks and large truck equipment. In his later years, he was most recognizable as the delivery driver for the Daily Review on the Dushore-Towanda route, a role which brought him to the homes of friends and neighbors every morning.

He enjoyed spending long evenings outdoors on the front porch of his home in Wilmot Township, sketching up plans for building projects, and home automotive repair. He largely kept to himself but still opened his home to friends and family—assuming that they would watch campy action films and sci-fi with him.

He is survived by his son, Dustin L. Howett (Veronica) of St. Louis, MO, and his sister Deborah A. Caffo of Smyrna, DE.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers Ted A. Howett and Barclay “Skip” H. Howett III and his sister Terrance “Terri” L. Cipriano.

Memorial contributions may be made as donations to the B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, 220 Main Street, Unit 2, Towanda, PA 18858-1822.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
