Mr. Lawrence Ellsworth Zickler, age 86, formerly of Spring Hill, PA, and Dushore, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday evening, September 25, 2024, surrounded with love from his family. 

Larry, as he was known by his family and friends was born on March 22, 1938, in Elizabeth, NJ, a son of the late Lawrence Dean Zickler and Elsie E. Hoagland. Larry was lovingly raised by his father and grandmother. 

He married the former Juanita Marie “Nita” Jackson on July 4, 1959. They enjoyed almost 54 years of marriage before Nita’s passing on June 11, 2013. Together, Larry and Nita farmed for many years on Spring Hill, raising veal calves and other animals.

 Larry worked as a truck driver and mechanic for many years at Kerberie in NJ. He retired from FFE Transportation. 

He enjoyed telling stories of his life and visiting with his friends. He also enjoyed music. However his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.

Larry is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren. 

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a grandson, Ralph E. “Bucky” Taylor Jr. on September 6, 1999, and by a great granddaughter, Paisley Michelle Zickler on March 28, 2020. 

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
