Lahman Lee Stoddard, age 89, of Wilmot Township, Bradford Co., PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at his home with his family at his side.
Lahman was born February 6, 1929, son of the late Hiram & Gertrude Vose Stoddard. After attending the Grant Hill School, he worked on the Stoddard family farm. On July 3, 1950, he married the former Darleen Rose Finan of Albany Township who predeceased him on August 11, 1984.
Lahman served in the US Army from February 1954 until February 1956. During his enlistment, Lahman served as a Light Truck Driver with Company B, of the 723rd Tank Battalion, Camp Irwin, CA. On May 5, 1955, Lahman’s unit participated in the Apple 2 nuclear detonation tests in Nevada, as part of Operation Teapot.
Lahman, was a life-long Wilmot Township farmer. Prior to his Army service, Lahman purchased his own farm, right next door to his parents’ farm where he was born and raised. He took great pride in his farmstead, where he farmed for the rest of his life.
Lahman was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA and a member of Wyalusing American Legion Post #534.
He enjoyed hunting and target shooting, bird watching, reading, and riding around the farm and the surrounding area on his 4-wheeler. He also enjoyed operating the tractor during the haying season.

He was predeceased by two brothers: Martin J. Stoddard on July 17, 1988; and Roy William Stoddard on May 14, 2017, and also by three nephews: Raulston R. Hunsinger on August 15, 1988, Ronald S. Stoddard on November 19, 1991, and Randy J. Stoddard on June 30, 2011. He was also predeceased by two brothers-in-law: Richard G. Hunsinger on April 21, 2005, and Robert E. “Bob” Finan on March 29, 2014, and by two sisters-in-law: Betty R. Finan on May 18, 1998, and Rita Ann Stoddard on September 12, 2011.
A Transferal Service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. with the Rev. Richard Rojas, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be in the adjoining parish cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday, March 25, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., and on Monday morning, March 26, 2018, from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the transferal at 10:00 A.M.
Military Honors will be accorded by members of Wyalusing Post #534 American Legion and by members of the US Army Honors Detail.
