Mr. Joseph James Hochberg, age 74, of New Albany, PA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday afternoon, July 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife Kim and his niece Joyce.
Joe was born in Sayre, PA, a son of the late James H. and Agnes Elizabeth Poye Hochberg on August 15, 1949. He graduated from Sullivan County High School as a member of the class of 1967. He honorably served his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam Era, serving from 1969 to 1971, and was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for injuries sustained during combat.
He married the former Kimberly Elaine Greenley of New Albany, PA, on September 3, 1994. They would have celebrated their 30th anniversary this September.
He worked in the Phosphorus department at Osram Sylvania and retired after over 25 years of service. He also worked for the Towanda Printing Company and later delivered newspapers.
Joe enjoyed mowing the lawn, and spending time with his wife Kim, daughter Mikayla, and his two grandchildren. He also enjoyed going around and visiting with his many family members and friends.

Hochberg of Berkshire, NY, on May 15, 2001, John Dismas Hochberg of Dushore, PA, on June 1, 2008, and Francis J. Hochberg of Dushore, PA, on April 3, 2020; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: William A. “Bill” Bryan of East Smithfield, PA, on March 16, 1992, D. Joseph Scanlin Jr. of Overton, PA, on February 9, 1997, Joseph B. McMahon of New Albany, PA, on March 24, 2006, and Margaret Brennan Hochberg of Berkshire, NY on May 29, 2019, and Walter Ferguson of Paisley, FL.
A Funeral Service will be on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA, with Pastor Michael Bentz of the New Albany United Methodist Church, officiating.
Friends and family may call on Monday morning, July 22, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the start of the service at 11:00 AM in the Homer Funeral Home, Dushore, PA.
Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army Honors Detail, and by members of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion.
Members are asked to assemble and pass in review at 11:30 AM at the conclusion of the service in the Homer Funeral Home on Monday, July 22, 2024.
The family will provide the flowers and Memorial contributions may be made to the New Albany United Methodist Church, 591 Front St., New Albany, PA 18833 in Joe’s memory.
