John M. Richlin Sr, age 78, of Forks Township, Sullivan Co., PA passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at the Robert Packer Hospital after a brief illness. John was born on February 11, 1939, at the Mills Hospital in Towanda, PA, a son of the late Martin J. & Helen Shilkoskie Richlin. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from St. Basil’s High School, a member of the class of 1956, and later attended Mansfield College. He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1961, and began working at Muncy Valley Industries and later at the Kennedy Valve in Elmira, NY. He retired from GTE Sylvania in Towanda, PA, after 31 years of service. John married the former Elaine Andrews of Eagles Mere on November 26, 1966. They recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. John was a loving husband and father. He was an active member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA. He helped with the Church picnics at Penn’s Grove, Overton, and St. Basils, and also helped count the collections. He was a life member of the Loyalsock Post # 996 American Legion, Dushore, PA and of the A.J. Bird Memorial Post #386 V.F.W. in New Albany, PA, and a member of the Monroeton Rod and Gun Club. John enjoyed hunting snowshoe rabbits and spending time with his beagles. Surviving: Spouse: Elaine at home Two sons: John M. He was predeceased by an infant son: James Richlin in 1970; a sister: Barbara Place of Meshoppen, PA, and two brothers-in-law: Ellery Weaver Jr. of Dushore, PA, and David Miller of Elmira, NY, and a sister-in-law: Carol Jordan of Eagles Mere, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 11, 2017, at 1:00 P.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Edward J. Michelini, pastor of SS: Peter and Paul’s church, Towanda, PA, presiding. Interment will follow in St. Basil’s Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers and directs any Memorial Contributions to the charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P.
