John Robert Klus, age 82, of Laporte, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020, at the Highlands Health & Restoration Center, in Laporte, PA, after a brief illness.
John was born December 26, 1937, in San Diego, CA, a son of the late Leoline “Leo” Lavator Klus and Rose Schultz Klus. He graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia, Class of 1956.
John attended Susquehanna University, where he met his future wife, the former Gwenllian Park, of Eagles Mere. After serving in the army for three years, he and Gwen were married on March 25, 1960.
John was a registered surveyor in the field of Civil Engineering in PA and MD for 50 years before retiring to Sullivan County in 2002. In that time John he served as Borough Engineer for Perkasie and a council member for Laporte Borough.
John enjoyed model trains, tinkering, woodworking, and serving his community as a member of Eagles-Mere Lions Club, Sonestown American Legion Post #601, and acting as Little League coach for his three boys.
He was a member of the Eagles Mere, and later the Laporte Community Church. John's love of music was shown in his active participation of both church choirs, and his membership, with Gwen in the Dushore Music Club.
Surviving: Spouse Gwenllian Klus of Laporte, PA. Three Sons: Kenneth (Carol) Klus, of Hollywood, SC; Allan Klus of Culpeper, VA; Brandon (Cindy) Klus, of Gainesville, VA; Six Grandchildren: Julia, Bryson, Cindi, Tonya, Erin, Tyler; and three great grandchildren: Ginny, Kenni, Reilly. Sister: D’Arlene Berensman, of Rosslyn, PA
Sister-in-law: Ruth Hild, of Eagles Mere, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service for both John and Gwen will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Eagles Mere Cemetery with the Rev. Robert W. Brown, former pastor, and the Rev. Chris Long, pastor, officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA 18614.
