Mr. John William Evangelisti, age 87, of Mildred, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 30, 2019.
John was born in Mildred, PA, on May 11, 1932, the son of the late Sebastian and Amelia Brunatti Evangelisti. He graduated from Cherry Township High School, a member of the class of 1951. He entered the US Air Force and served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. After the War, he worked for a union tile contractor for eleven years in Delaware, and retuned to Mildred, in 1965. John was a highly respected tile contractor, and founded Evangelisti & Son Tile, which is still in operation under his son, Mark. John retired at the age of 76.
He married the former Yvonne Chrzanowski, of Murraytown, PA, on August 23, 1958. They were happily married for 58 years and raised six children. Yvonne predeceased him on May 1, 2017.
John spent a lot of his time at Hemlock Acres Lodge, where he enjoyed the company of his friends and family. “The Cabin” was his favorite place to be.
John was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mildred, PA and a member of McDermott Post 452, American Legion, Mildred, PA. He was also a member of the 40/8 Voiture # 549 and a member of the International Union of Bricklayer and Allied Craftworkers.

His legacy also includes 13 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Sheri Lynn and a grandson, Steven.

A Transferal Service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019, at 10:30 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA with Rev. Thomas J. Major, his pastor, presiding. Interment will follow in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.
Friends may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA on Monday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the start of the transferal.
Graveside Military Service will be accorded by Members of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA, and also by the US Air Force Honor’s Detail.
Members are asked to assemble and pass in review at 10:00 A.M. on Monday morning at the funeral home.
