Joann Zerby

Joann Zerby, age 80, of Wysox, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Commonwealth Health Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Joann was born in Los Angeles, CA, on January 25, 1944, a daughter of the late John and Ella Edwards Myers.  She graduated from the Jersey Shore High School, a member of the class of 1962.  She married Chester Allen Zerby Sr. of Mill Hall, PA, on January 26, 1963.  They celebrated their 57^th wedding anniversary in 2020, before his passing on March 16, 2020.

Joann was a dedicated and loving housewife for her husband and family her whole life. When her husband retired they moved to Wysox Township, PA.  She enjoyed coloring, puzzles, reading, and crocheting. She also enjoyed canning. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews

She was predeceased by two sisters: Jean Stewart and Rose Hill, and by three brothers: David Myers, Danny Myers, and John Myers Jr., a son-in-law Edward L. Netherton Sr., and a daughter-in-law Abigail Garcia, and by three brothers-in-law: Leroy Zerby, Richard Zerby and Harry Zerby; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Simparosa.

Joann’s wishes were that her service be private and at the convenience of her family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Homer Funeral Home, PO Box 1, Dushore, PA, to help the family with final expenses. 

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
