James William Yates, age 72, of Sugar Run, PA, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the Robert Packer Hospital, in Sayre, PA. Jim was born in Philadelphia, PA, on December 11, 1948, a son of the late Edward Richard & Stella Trusila Yates. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1977. In the army he was a kitchen supervisor, and later completed a cooking course at the Luzerne County Community College. He was currently employed by Jerry Johnson’s Stone Quarry. He was a spontaneous person that lived in the moment. He loved a good cookout and could grill like no other. He most importantly loved to share his life experiences and lessons with his family. Surviving: Companion of 30 years: Rosalie Warfle Stevensville, PA Step-children: John Warfle Jr. Bessie Warfle Leslie Warfle Anita Gochenaur Step-grandchildren: Bridget Gochenaur Anthony Gochenaur Delreign Gochenaur Casandra Gochenaur Dante Montoya Gage Montoya And he was also loved by many other grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at the Homer Funeral Home, 83 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA, with Mr. Austen A. McGee, officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by members of the United States Army Honor’s Detail. Friends and family may call on Friday morning, October 8, 2021, at the Homer Funeral Home, Wyalusing, from 10:00 AM until the start of the service at 11:00 AM.
