Mr. James T. Massey, age 93, of Laporte, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Muncy Valley Hospital.
Jim was born October 13, 1926, in Sonestown, PA, a son of the late James Massey and Alice Sones Massey. He graduated from the Sonestown High School, a member of the class of 1944. He served in WWII in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. He married the former Dorothy Campbell from Canton on December 24, 1947, at Dorothy’s parents’ home in Canton.
Jim went to surveyor’s school and began working for Penn Dot, where he furthered his knowledge of surveying and retired in 1985. He also was a private surveyor and continued his practice into his 80’s.
Jim was a member of the Laporte United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working with horses and was a long time member of the Laporte Fire Co., and was formerly a Laporte borough councilman. He was also a member of Muncy Lodge # 299 F. & A.M.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA 18614, with the Rev. Robert W. Brown, his former pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain Ash Cemetery, Laporte, PA.
Friends may call at the Homer Funeral Home on Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. before the service.
