Wilson was born October 3, 1933, in Muncy, PA a son of the late Charles Brocunier Ferguson & Faye Lord Ferguson. He graduated from Friends Select School and later received his BA degree from Kenyon College, his MA degree from Bryn Mawr College and his PhD from Princeton University.
Wilson taught in the History Department at the Russell Sage College in Troy, NY for twenty-six years, retiring to Sullivan County in 1994. He married the former Winifred Griswold of Buskirk, NY, in 1984.
Wilson was very active in Sullivan County community and shared his abilities with many organizations. He was currently serving on the Sullivan County School Board, secretary of the Sullivan County Historical Society, and treasurer of Blast IU. He was also a member of the Laporte Enhancement Committee, former board member and president of the Lake Mokoma Association, and member of the Friends Select National Alumni/ae Board.
A top-notch athlete on the soccer field, Wilson learned the sport at an early age on the soccer field atop the Friends Select School in Philadelphia. At Kenyon College he won all-Midwest Region certificates in three seasons and earned All American status in 1952 and 1954. From the time he started teaching in Philadelphia he joined adult teams and later he became certified as a high school soccer official in New York and Pennsylvania. He was inducted in the Kenyon College Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2002. He was also a registered high school volleyball referee.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Lake Mokoma Beach, on Saturday, June 29th 2019 at 11:00 A.M.
