Edith "Edie" Alice Rokus

          Mrs. Edith A. “Edie” Chicarilli Rokus, age 98, of Leesburg, VA, formerly of Mildred, PA, passed away on Saturday morning, April 14, 2018, at the Morningside House of Leesburg. 

          Edie was born in Mildred, PA, October 19, 1919, a daughter of the late Nazzareno and Maria Mognarelli Chicarilli.  She graduated from the Cherry Township High School.  She married Edward A. Rokus on December 30, 1939, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA, and he predeceased her on September 17, 1968.

          Edie began working at Weldon Mfg. Co. in Lopez, PA and later at the Endicott Johnson Shoe Mfg. Co., of Mildred, PA, and later for Sullcraft Mfg. Co. in Dushore, Woodward & Lothrop in Tysons Corner, VA, and Dick’s Menswear in Leesburg, VA. She was most proud of her job as a babysitter for many children.

          She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mildred, PA.

          A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 1:00 P.M. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Leesburg, VA, with the Rev. Anthony Killian, presiding. 

           Interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Mildred, PA, on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Richard Rojas, presiding.

          The Family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

          Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
