Earl "Bob" R. Zettlemoyer

Earl R. “Bob” Zettlemoyer, age 91, of Towanda, PA, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018, at the Guthrie Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home.

          Bob was born in Reading, PA on June 10, 1927 a son of the late Earl R. & May Consuela Trump Zettlemoyer.  He graduated from the Reading High School.  He attended the Merchant Marine Academy and later graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. 

          Bob served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1954 to 1956.

          He worked at GTE Sylvania for 35 years retiring in 1986.  He married the former Anna Maria Mancini Tubach of Dushore on October 17, 1964.  Anna Maria, an accomplished area artist, predeceased him on August 25, 2012.

          He attended SS: Peter & Paul’s Church in Towanda, PA.  He was a 50+ year member of the Monroeton Gun Club, Inc., and was a founding member of the Hiking and Debating Society of Towanda. 

          He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, camping at the beach, and spending winters in FL. He also enjoyed traveling with Anna Maria to Italy on several occasions.

          He accompanied Anna Maria to many art festivals, galleries, and shops in Pennsylvania and in southern New York State.

Joshua Sparrow, Devon Sparrow, Hunter Tubach, Kyle Tubach, Tristan Tubach, Matthew Taylor, Caroline Taylor and Nicholas Zettlemoyer; Danielle (James) Bryant; five great grandchildren:  Teresa Hoffert, Penn Hoffert, Cleo Hoffert, Erin Finnerty; and Caleb Bryant, and several nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.  He was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte Richards of Shillington, PA.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at SS: Peter & Paul’s Church, Towanda, PA with the Rev. Edward L. Michelini, pastor, presiding.  Interment will be in SS: Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Towanda, PA.

Graveside Military Services will be accorded by the Honors Detail of the US Army.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.

The family will provide the flowers and ask that memorial contributions be sent to the St. Jude‘s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
