Dorothy Ingersoll Terhune, age 82, of Forks Twp., Sullivan County, PA, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 1, 2020, after a long illness at home with her loving daughters, Amelia and Mary, at her side, as well as her special kitty, Ginger.
Dorothy was born on January 15, 1938, in Fillmore, NY, a daughter of the late Royal Burdell & Gladys Zoe Grange Ingersoll. She met Lee James Terhune while they both attended Syracuse University, and they married on July, 9, 1960, in Falconer, NY. They lived most of their lives in the Syracuse, NY, area until retiring in 1994 to Sullivan County, where her mother had been born. Lee predeceased her on Christmas Day in 2013, after 52 years of a happy marriage. She was also predeceased by her older brother Robert in 1941 and her younger brother Ian in 2019. She is survived by her daughters and her younger sister, Esther Todd.
After moving to Sullivan County, Dorothy was enthusiastically involved in the restoration of the historic Baldwin House, drawing on her many years of interest in architecture, period furniture, renovation, carpentry, and sewing. She enjoyed sewing in particular, and was talented in everything from tailoring suits to quilting. She won a number of blue ribbons at the Sullivan County Fair for her sewing and quilting.
Due to Covid-19, memorial services will be held this summer and announced when arranged.
