Mrs. Dorothy Gibson Smith, age 62, of Water St., Wyalusing, PA and formerly of New Milford, PA passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017, at her home. Dorothy was born on May 18, 1954, in Lima, PA a daughter of Elizabeth Ace Gibson and the late William John Gibson. She graduated from Marcellus Senior High School in Marcellus, NY a member of the class of 1972. She continued her education at Keuka College, Keuka Park, NY where she graduated in May of 1976 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. While in college she was a member of the sorority, Sigma Tau Delta. She was a registered nurse in both New York and Pennsylvania. She worked in the nursing field for many of her earlier years and had worked for Twin Tier Home Health Agency in Vestal, NY for several years before retiring. She married Randy Lee Smith of New Milford, PA on November 26, 1988, at the First Presbyterian Church in Nicholson, PA. She moved to Wyalusing in November of 2015 to be closer to her son and grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed flowers and always maintained beautiful flower gardens. She loved to shop and always looked forward to her yearly vacation at the beach. The most important part of her life was her grandchildren who she loved to spoil. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and would always attend all of their school and sporting activities. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 5:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA 18853, with the Rev. Dr. Barry R. Ballard, officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon, April 27, 2017, from 3:00 P.M. until the start of the service at 5:00 P.M.
