Donna Marie Cole

Mrs. Donna Marie Preston Cole, age 74, well known lifelong Wyalusing, PA, resident, passed away early Thursday morning, December 13, 2018, at her home with her loving family at her side.

Donna was born in Towanda, PA, on May 6, 1944, a daughter of the late Herbert Morton and Doris Neiley Preston. She graduated from the Wyalusing Valley High School, a member of the class of 1962. She married Ronald Milton Cole of Herrickville, PA, on January 16, 1965, at the Wyalusing United Methodist Church and they would have celebrated their 54^th wedding anniversary this January. 

After starting her family and raising her children, she went to Mansfield University where she graduated with her Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist.  She started her career in the Wyalusing Area School District, at the four different elementary schools. She would later settle at the Wyalusing Elementary School where she became a Reading Specialist and after 34 years of dedicated service would retire in June of 2011. Always greeting you with a gentle smile that would light up a room, had made her well-liked and respected by all her peers and students. 

Donna was a member of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church and would always look forward to going to church until her health no longer permitted. She also served the Church as a past member of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee.

She enjoyed gardening and watching the birds from her porch and riding horses. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband Ron out west to Wyoming. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and she always looked forward to tea parties with her sisters. She was also a very gifted poet and enjoyed writing many poems over the years. She also found great joy in her cats, Butters, Woody, and Mama Cat. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

          She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

          She was predeceased by her mother, Doris Neiley Preston on August 2, 1999, and by her father, Herbert Morton Preston on December 18, 2013. She was also predeceased by her mother-in-law, Adeline Starr Cole on November 17, 1979, father-in-law, Milton Frank Cole on March 3, 1985, a brother, Roy Charles Preston on December 10, 2016, a niece, Brooke Chantel Preston on March 25, 2017, and by two brothers-in-law, Myron “Mike” Bristol on January 12, 2014, and Wayne Sutton on June 17, 1998.

          Memorial Services will be held on Monday, December 17^th, 2018, at 1:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA, with the Rev. Heather M. Baker-McAllister, officiating.

                   Friends and family may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA, on Monday, December 17^th, 2018, from 11:00 A.M. until the start of the service at 1:00 P.M.
