David Mark Cullen

David M. Cullen 73, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

           David was born February 27, 1949, in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Leonard & Helen Becraft Cullen of New Albany.  He attended St. Basil’s High School until it closed in 1966, and was a proud graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School, a member of the class of 1968.  He earned his BA at Gannon University in Erie, PA, and always said he earned his “advanced degree” working as a waiter.

          For many years, David worked as a very successful Sales Representative for a nationwide pest control company, based in Miami, FL.

          He enjoyed cycling, was an avid reader, and history buff.  Dave had a quick wit, was a thoughtful host, loved his dogs Toby and Henry (“Basset hound extraordinaire,”) and always encouraged us to, “make it a good day.”

Survivors include his sisters: Katharine Yavorski, Dunellen, NJ; Helen Marie (Basil) Cooil, Ithaca, NY; Regina Dennie, Rockville, MD; and a brother Thomas (Debra) Cullen, Hackettstown, NJ; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

          Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters:  Eileen J. Cullen, on November 15, 2018, and Rita Mary Cullen, on June 10, 2019;  and by brothers-in-law Edward Yavorski and Joseph Dennie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, with the Rev. Thomas J. Major, Pastor, presiding.  Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Overton, PA.

          Friends and family may call at the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA, on Monday morning, September 12, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the start of the transferal at 10:30 AM.
