Daniel Charlton Boop

Daniel C. Boop died unexpectedly of natural causes in Fort Myers, FL, on May 31, 2024. Dan moved to southwest Florida in 2018 for new career opportunities. He spent most of his life in central Pennsylvania. 

Dan was born on February 26, 1965, in Wilmington, Delaware, the son of the late Gordon Charlton and Joanne Groves Boop. The family moved to Bloomsburg, PA, the following year. Dan graduated from Central Columbia High School in 1983 where he was an outstanding distance runner and swimmer. Dan was a strong student and he attended Susquehanna University. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1988. 

Dan lived most of his adult life in Lewisburg, PA. However, the Boop family owned a residence in Eagles Mere, PA, and Dan considered both communities his home. Dan was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Lewisburg where he served on the church’s governing board (Vestry). There is nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with friends on the golf course. 

Dan began his professional career working in the insurance industry. He worked in the wire rope manufacturing industry and earned his Master of Business Administration in 1998 from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania while working full time. 

Dan spent the majority of his professional life as a successful sales leader. He worked for companies in the transportation and playground industries. Dan’s willingness to go the extra mile for clients was legendary. Due to his excellent work ethic, Dan spent more of his quarter century on sales as a regional manager. Often, the regional sales teams Dan supervised were top performers in the company. As the supervisor of regional sales teams, Dan was considered an excellent mentor to the professionals he supervised. He was renowned for his ability to train young professionals and his compassion to support them in their development. Throughout his career as a sales leader, former mentees would stay in touch with Dan and contact him for his wisdom. 

Dan is survived by his older brother and sister-in-law, David, and Cheryl Boop, who live in the Columbus, Ohio area as well as numerous close friends. Dan will be laid to rest next to his parents in Eagles Mere, PA.  

A virtual Memorial Service for Dan will take place on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, at 7:00 PM. The service will take place at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Columbus, OH, which is the home church of Dan's brother and sister-in-law. You will be able to access the service via

A Graveside Service will be on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Eagles Mere Cemetery, where he will be buried next to his parents, with the Rev. Sarah Weedon officiating. 

Following the graveside service there will be a celebration of life at the Eagles Mere Country Club.
