Charles Arthur Saxe, age 98, of Sugar Run, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA.
Charles was born in Sayre, PA, on July 26, 1925, a son of the late Arthur & Ina Aleta Lenox Saxe. He graduated from Suffern High School, in Suffern, NY, a member of the class of 1944. Upon graduating Suffern High School, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was instantly sent overseas to fight in WWII. He came back to Colley to work on the family farm when after a few years as a reservist, he was called back into the Army to be sent to war yet again, this time in Korea. When volunteering to run supplies to troops caught behind the lines, he was severely burned in an explosion and spent weeks in the hospital in Japan. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
After marrying Ann Marie McDonald of Dushore, Pa. he continued to serve in the Army, being stationed in many different states and even back to Germany again. He retired from the Army as a Master Sargent after 27 years of service. He had another career as a letter carrier for the Post Office in Bloomingdale, NJ. He loved being with his family and friends who will miss him terribly.
He was a member of St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA and a member of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil Church, Dushore, PA with his pastor, the Rev. Thomas J. Major, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass.
Graveside Military Services will be accorded by the US Army Honor Detail and by members of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA. Members are asked to assemble and pass in review at 10:50 AM on Friday morning at St. Basil’s Church.
