Betty Jane Shaffer

          Mrs. Betty J. Shaffer, 75, of Sugar Run, PA, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2019 at home with her loving family at her side.

          Betty was born on August 28^th, 1943, the eldest daughter of the late Harry Sr. and Ethel Casselbury Camp.  She attended the Herrickville and Stevensville Elementary Schools and graduated from the Wyalusing Valley High School a member of the class of 1961.

          On April 10, 1970, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Robert Shaffer, Sr.   They resided on Stoney Point, where they spent 34 years together, raising their four children, until his passing on March 15, 2004.

          Betty was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and will be missed by all that knew her. She devoted her younger years to taking care of her own family, then did in home care for the elderly.  She later was a devoted grandmother and helped care for her grandchildren.

          In June 2010, she moved to Park Place in Wyalusing, where she lived until June of 2018. She met new people and had many great friends, especially Betty Haught. In June 2018, she moved to Sugar Run, with her daughter and grandchildren, where she was cared for until the time of her death.

          She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and Yahtzee.  She loved flowers and watching birds.  She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.  She was known as “Mammy” by many children and loved them all.

          For the past year, Betty has had caregivers, Betty knew them as her “girls” and loved them dearly:  Brooke Merritt, Paige Robinson, Kimberly Carr, Lisa Wilcox, Heidi Knolles, Erin Armitage, and niece Amanda Weaver.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, Robert C. and Norma Shaffer; sister, Diana Bacorn; brothers; Glenn and Roy Camp; son-in-law; Roger Moore; brothers-in-law; Arnold Shaffer, James Philbrooke and Nick Bastian, and sister-in-law, Beverly Jayne.

          Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at 11:00 A.M., at the P Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, PA 18853. Doug Walton will be officiating. Interment will be in Camptown Cemetery, Camptown, PA.

          Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 10:00A.M until the time of the service.
