Anne Marie Silla

Anne Marie Silla, age 79, of Muncy Valley, PA, passed away late Tuesday evening, February 25, 2025, at the Gatehouse Inpatient Hospice Unit surrounded with love from her family.  

Anne was born July 26, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Orlando and Rose Pizzie Colonna. She graduated from St. Maria Goretti High School in South Philadelphia in 1963. On April 15, 1967, she married John Silla at the Annunciation Catholic Church in South Philadelphia. 

While living in Chicago, Anne and John were active in the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Palatine, IL, where they served as directors of the Pre Cana Program, mentoring and guiding young couples into marriage within the Catholic Church and community.  

In 2001 Anne and John retired to the endless mountains in Sullivan County to make their home. North Mountain and Dushore will always hold a special place in their hearts. In Sullivan County they became active members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, where Anne served her church and catholic community as president of St. Basil’s Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Eagles Mere Country Club. 

Anne enjoyed gardening and being an immaculate homemaker. She was known to have the biggest garden in the neighborhood, full of flowers and produce. She was passionate about cooking and she blessed many people with her love and talent of cooking, from gourmet meals to homemade pizzas in her wood burning brick oven. She also loved dancing. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and her Catholic Faith, which showed through in how she lived her life. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Anne is also survived by a nephew, Joseph “Joey” Colonna.  

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph "Sonny" and Maria Colonna, and a brother-in-law, Raymond Silla.  

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Saturday morning, March 8, 2025, at 9:45 AM by members of St. Basil’s Altar and Rosary Society in the Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA, prior to the start of the viewing. 

A viewing will be held on Saturday morning, March 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the start of a transferal service at 11:30 AM in the Homer Funeral Home, Dushore, PA.  

A Transferal Service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:30 AM from the Homer Funeral Home, Dushore, PA, and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM in St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA, with Monsignor Robert Wargo presiding. Interment will follow in the adjoining parish cemetery.
