James Atkins Sr., age 64, formally of Ottsville, PA passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2005 at his home with his loving family at his side after a hard fought battle with asbestosis. Jim was born October 1, 1940 in Abington Township, Montgomery County son of the late Wilbur Atkins and Mabel Arnold Atkins. He graduated from the William Tenet High School in Southampton, PA and married the former Sarah Lorraine Fleer on March 10, 1962. They resided in Ottsville, PA where Jim worked for over 27 years for the Central Bucks School District, before retiring to his Elk Creek road residence in Sept of 2002. Jim was a loving spouse, father and grandfather. He really enjoyed spending time with his 10 grandchildren, hunting, fishing, woodworking and his beloved English Bulldog, Dozer. Jim and Sally attended the Shunk United Methodist Church. Jim was a member of Quakertown Lodge #512 F. & A.M. Surviving: Spouse: Sally at home Son and daughter-in-law: W. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Doylestown United Methodist Church, Rte 313, Doylestown, PA with Pastor David Haines, officiating. Memorials are directed to the Shunk United Methodist Church, Shunk, PA 17768 or Guthrie Hospice, RR 1 Box 154, Towanda, PA 18848. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA.
