Paul was born on December 24, 1932, in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late Mervin and Norma Brierton. After high school he went to work with his grandfather in the Bricklayers Union Local #45. He met and married his wife of 40 years, the former Margaret Stanley Brierton, of Newark, NJ, on September 28, 1968. They moved to the Wyalusing area in 1978. He retired from the Bricklayers union in 1995.
