Willis was born November 8, 1907 at his home in Conshohocken, PA a son of the late Joseph Carl DeLaCour and Laura Scull DeLaCour . He graduated from the Hill School in Pottstown, PA and Yale University, class of 1931 and was the class agent for his Yale class when he died. He worked his whole serious work life for the family business, the William S. Scull Company, a coffee and tea company, leaving as President when the business was sold in around 1957. He was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy in WW2. He was for decades on the board of the Cooper Hospital in Camden and later for many years the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic. He was a member of the Philadelphia Club. He founded his family's charitable foundation about five years ago. Always an avid golfer, he was president and chairman of the greens committee at the Gulph Mills Golf Club was a member for well over fifty years, of the Pine Valley Golf Club since 1932, a member of the Mid-Ocean Club in Bermuda, and a past member of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, St. Andrews, Scotland. He also was a past president of the Pennsylvania Golf Association and a member of the United State Golf Association Senior’s Group and won his age division one year. He was a past president of Eagles Mere Country Club, chaired its green committee for many years and was club champion twice and senior club champion. A truly remarkable golf feat, was shooting his age or better every year from age 72 to 91. Willis was one of the most highly respected summer residents of Eagles Mere, where he and his family visited annually since the 1920’s. He was a founding member and president at one point of the Eagles Mere Conservancy and a founding member of the Eagles Mere Foundation. He is survived by his wife, Eleanore Piper DeLaCour; and his children, Willis Jr.; Edmund Piper and Lea DeLaCour; also survived by 8 adoring grandchildren. Memorial Service will be Saturday, April 9th, 11 A.M., at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church-Chapel, 625 Montgomery Ave., Bryn Mawr.
