Leo was born August 24, 1929 in Lopez, PA one of twelve children of the late Nicholas & Rose Opishinski Mattichak. He graduated from the Dushore High School a member of the class of 1947. He served in the US Army from 1948 to 1952 in Korea. He worked for Western Electric, AT&T and Lucent retiring in 1983 after 33 years of service. Leo was a member of Trinity Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Evergreen Lodge, #163, F. & A.M. and various Masonic organizations, the Newell Rod and Gun Club, White Ash Land Association and McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA. Surviving: Brother and sister-in-law: David and Johnnie Mattichak Harrisonburg, VA Three Sisters and brother-in-law: Vera English Syracuse, NY Lillian Bizup Orangeville, PA Gladys and Joseph Stavisky Orangeville, PA Sister-in-law: Dolores Mattichak Lopez, PA Special Friend: Judy Rattigan Lopez, PA Numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers: George Mattichak, Joseph Mattichak, William Mattichak, Steve Mattichak and sisters: Eva Halkovich, Theresa Smith and Helen Gulick. Funeral Services will be held from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA on Saturday, March 15th at 10:30 A.M. and will be followed by Funeral Services at Trinity Chapel, Mildred, PA at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Jira A. Albers, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Vladimir’s Cemetery, Lopez, PA. Friends may call on Friday, March 14th from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home and there will be a Masonic service at 7:15 P.M. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by members of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, and members are asked to assemble and pass in review at 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening.
