Fitzgerald, age 75, of Dushore, PA passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 7, 2008, PA. Ruby was born in Muncy Valley on September 12, 1932, a daughter of the late Lee R. & Alma Snyder Gavitt. She graduated from the Sullivan Highlands High School in Sonestown, PA a member of the class of 1950. She married Joseph J. Fitzgerald of Dushore on October 7, 1950. Joe predeceased her on November 22, 2003. Ruby was a loving spouse, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. In later life she worked as the custodian at the Turnpike Elementary School in Mildred, from which she retired. She was also involved with Pat Ricci’s Catering business and very involved for many years with the Dushore Fire and Ambulance Association. She was a lifelong democrat and was proud to be involved in politics. Ruby was an active member of St. Basil’s Catholic Church, Dushore, PA. Surviving: Two sons and daughter-in-law: Joseph P. Fitzgerald of New Albany and children, Craig & Jackie of Phoenixville, and Amanda & Dustin Marotti and great grandchildren Samantha and Torrence of Dushore; James & Leona Fitzgerald of Sugar Run and children Angie of Mechanicsburg and Eric of New Cumberland, PA Two daughters and son-in-law: Rita Fitzgerald and her husband Edward Bunavage of Tunkhannock, PA and children Jessie Place and fiancée Lamberto Camacho of Baltimore, MD and Madeleine and Cameron Bunavage of Tunkhannock; and Diane Fitzgerald of Dushore and friend Mike Shumacher of Benton, PA and her children Lynn & Hillard Malkemes and great grandchildren Joseph A. & Ruby L. of Lopez, PA and Joseph & Brenda Tuttle of Las Vegas, NV. Brother, Walter L. Two sisters-in-law and spouse: Sister Theresa Fitzgerald I.H.M of Scranton, PA and Celia and George Lapinsky of Wilmington, NC. Three sisters-in-law: Melinda Fitzgerald of Dushore, PA, Virginia Fitzgerald of Towanda, PA and Dorothy Fitzgerald of Fayetteville, NC Brother-in-law: Francis Tourscher of Dushore, PA Numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law: Robin Keeney Fitzgerald, and by brothers, Morgan, Mark, Michael, Paul and Frank Gavitt. A Transfer Services will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, June 9, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Members of St. Basil’s St Francis Altar and Rosary Society will recite the rosary on Monday at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
