John was born August 15, 1923, in Wilmot Twp., PA a son of the late James M. & Mary Ann Ryan McKernan. He married the former Betty Lou Krause who predeceased him on January 10, 2008. John worked at an early age for the former Harrington & Co. Creamery in Dushore, PA and later hauled canned milk from family farms in the Wilmot and Colley areas into the creamery for processing. He also hauled feed for the formers’ Obert’s Mill and tractor equipment for Miller’s International Harvester dealership, both of Dushore, PA. John was a lifelong dairy farmer in Wilmot Township. He also owned and operated a school bus for the Wyalusing Valley School District for over 38 years. Krause New Albany, PA Roy P. Krause Horseheads, NY Sisters-in-law: Frances Fiester Laporte, PA Carol Ann (Pete) Bomboy Tunkhannock, PA Connie Jean Krause Round Rock, TX 2 grandchildren, James McKernan and Michael McKernan, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, James McKernan and sisters: Betty Cain, Mary Ann McKernan, Helen (Nellie) Pompeii, Julia Grady and Josephine Barry; and by a granddaughter, Amy Kay Frederick of Wyalusing, PA. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 29 at 10:30 A.M. from the at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA, and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Bert S. Kozen, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Cummiskey, PA. Friends may call on Monday Jan. 28th from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 – 9:00 PM. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA. The rosary will be recited at 1:30 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 1:45 P.M. The family will provide the flowers and ask that memorials be directed to Dushore Ambulance Association, PO Box 1 Dushore, PA 18614.
