OBITUARY
John D. Hochberg, age 80, of Ringer Hill, Cherry Township, Sullivan County, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 1, 2008.
John was born February 24, 1928 in Cherry Township, son of the late James H. & Agnes E. Poye Hochberg. He graduated from the Cherry Township High School, a member of the class of 1945. After high school he enlisted in the US Army. After returning from the service he worked in the woods for several years before becoming a truck driver for North Branch Transfer Co., a company founded by Joseph C. Lynch of Dushore, PA. He retired from North Branch after many years of service.
After retiring, John work for the Cherry Township Supervisors for several years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and especially fishing and had a hunting cabin in Canada for many years.
John was a member of St. Basil’s Catholic Church in Dushore, PA and a member of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA.

Several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by sisters Mary Hochberg in 1936, Genevieve Potter of Towanda, PA and a brother, Robert Hochberg of Berkshire, NY.
A Transfer Service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Basil’s Church, Dushore, PA with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home. There will be a Vigil Service at 8:45 P.M. on Tuesday evening.
The family will provide the flowers and request that memorial in John’s name be directed to the Dushore Fire and Ambulance Association, PO Box 1, Dushore, PA 18614.
Graveside Military Services will be accorded by members of Loyalsock Post #996 American Legion, Dushore, PA. Members are asked to assemble and pass in review at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
