Bob was born in Belford, NJ, on April 16, 1920 the son of the late Albert and Nina Johnson Colson. He was raised in Belford, NJ. Bob enlisted in the Army Air Force in July of 1940 and served during WWII until September of 1945. He married Gerda Ursula Ackermann of Jersey City, NJ on October 17, 1943. He and his wife resided in Lake Stockholm, NJ for 32 years retiring to Wilmot Township in 1987. Gerda predeceased him on October 08, 2004 Bob was an architectural draftsman by profession and worked for the Sussex County Engineering Department. He was also a professional photographer and worked for 29 years for the Division of Civil Defense and Disaster Control for Hardyston Township, NJ. For many years, he was a free lance photographer. Bob was a founding member of the Lake Stockholm Fire Company and served as its chief for 5 years. He helped build the heavy rescue truck for Hardyston Twp., and was a very early EMT, serving the township. Surviving: Three daughters and one son with sons and daughter-in-law: Patricia & James Metz Edison, NJ Barbara Colson Onalaska, TX Robert and Dorothy Colson Newton, NJ Betty Ryland & Joseph Szymborski Avalon, PA Sister: Doris Willis Brothers: Alvin and Richard Colson Belford, NJ Six grand children and 1 great grand child. Bob was predeceased by three sisters, Helen, Gloria & Marion Colson and a brother, Albert, Leonard & Norman Colson. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 23, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hollenback Methodist Church with the Rev. Diane E. Prentice, pastor, officiating.
