OBITUARY
Mrs. Helen Rusin Potter, age 85 of Dushore, PA passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the Dar-Way Nursing Home, Estella, PA.
Helen was born in Lopez on September 28, 1922 daughter of the late John & Julia Ksenitch Rusin. She graduated from Cherry Township High School a member of the class of 1940. She married the former Carl Donald Potter of Mildred on January 9, 1942.
Helen worked at the former Weldon Pajama Factory in Dushore until she and Carl purchased the Thunderbird Tavern in Mildred, which they operated from May of 1959 until June of 1983 when they retired. They operated a special tavern, where the proprieties were observed and their families (customers) could come and bring their kids and have a good chat or play pool. Later in the evenings all customers would leave with a clear head and a full stomach. Carl predeceased her on September 9, 1983.
Helen was a member of Trinity Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Dushore, PA and a member of Towanda Chapter #76, O.E.S. and was the Past Matron of the former Wyalusing Valley Chapter #523 O.E.S. Helen was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of McDermott Post #452 American Legion, Mildred, PA

Son: Robert (Carlie) Potter, North Greece, NY; Son-in-law: David Black of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter-in-law: Dee Potter of North Carolina; two sisters; Julia Bohensky of Dushore and Rosalie Concert of Suffern, NY; two grandsons, Robert Potter of Rochester, NY and Donald Potter of Pasadena, CA : two granddaughters, Kendra Black of Phoenix, AZ and Karon Potter of Dushore, PA. Five Great Grandchilden and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Paula Black on December 3, 1998 and a son, John J. Potter on August 10, 2003 and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Bahr Potter on October 30, 1998; brothers, John, William, Martin, Michael, Nicholas; sisters; Mrs. Mary Lucas and Anne Zondorak.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA and followed by Services at Trinity Chapel, Mildred, at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Rodney H. Saylor, officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The family will provide the flowers and Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
