Obituary
Mrs. Janet M. Holland, age 90 of Nellysford, VA and Eagles Mere, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20th, 2008 at home with her family by her side.
Janet was born, June 19, 1918 in Fort Wayne, IN a daughter of the late Edward & Beatrice Forrest Fisher. She graduated from South Side High School in Fort Wayne and married Stanley R. Holland of Portland, ME on September 13, 1941. The recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Stan served three years in Air Corps in the Southwest Pacific and Janet resided in Fort Wayne until Stan was discharged. They moved to Oreland, PA in 1947, where Janet earned her bachelor’s degree from Beaver College (now Arcadia College) and received her master’s degree in Reading from the University of Pennsylvania.
In 1961, Stan and Janet built their home in Eagles Mere where the spent virtually every summer.
In 1964, Stan was transferred to Manhasset, Long Island. Janet began teaching in the reading department at Hofstra University in Hempstead, LI from which she retired after 30 years of service.
In retirement they moved to Diamondhead, MS where they spent their winters and summered in Eagles Mere. They completely lost their home in hurricane Katrina and moved to Nellysford, VA in 2005.
Janet was an Episcopalian and a loving spouse, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and traveling.

Janet was predeceased by a brother, Forrest Fisher.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, Oct. 24, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Eagles Mere Cemetery, with the Rev. Dean S. Shively, officiating.
