Gertrude was born on July 30, 1927 in Avoca, PA, the daughter of the late John and Catherine Wicka Tylutke. In the early years she worked for At&T as a switchboard operator. She married Walter Zakrzewski of Brooklyn, NY on June 29, 1947. They moved to Sugar Run in 1965. Walter predeceased her on November 6, 2000. Gertrude loved watching wildlife on her farm, she also really enjoyed reading and cooking. Gertrude was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness congregation, Towanda, PA. She was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Zakrzewski in 1970. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009, at 1:00 P.M. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane Wyalusing, PA. Interment will be in the Wyalusing Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:30 P.M. until the time of the service.
