Engel, age 64, of Eagles Mere, PA passed away on Friday, October 17, 2008 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA. Steve was born in Culver City, OK on April 3, 1944 a son of Ervin & Gladys Masquelier Engel, both school teachers. He graduated from High School in 1963 and received an associated degree from John Brown University, Siloam Springs, AR in 1965. He enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam in Special Forces as a Green Beret for 10 years and then entered Army Intelligence where he remained until retiring after 20 years of service. He married the former Marjorie Beeson of Eagles Mere on May 27, 1967. He moved to Eagles Mere where he and Marjorie purchased the Carousel Cottage which they operated for 6 years. He also began a career with the US Post Office in Williamsport and retired to Eagles Mere in 2006 after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Eagles Mere Country Club and a member of the Eagles Mere – Laporte Lions Club and was active as an EMT with the Eagles Mere Ambulance Association. Surviving: Spouse, Marjorie at home; a daughter Marjorie (Mimi) Vandergrift of Eagles Mere; a son, Frederick August (Gus) & Annie Engel of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers, Michael (Linda) Engel, Tulsa, OK and Alan (Deniece) Engel of Colcord, OK; a sister, Frances (Lee) Turman of Stillwell, OK; and three grandchildren, Will, Rory and Jack Engel. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 22th at the Eagles Mere Community Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Drew Morgan presiding. Interment will be in the Eagles Mere Cemetery. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by members of the US Army Reserve.
