OBITUARY
Judith Mary McEvoy Repke, age 67, of Alexandria, VA and Eagles Mere, PA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the INOVA Alexandria Hospital, in Alexandria, Virginia.
Judy was born in Santa Monica, CA on November 3, 1941, a daughter of the late Earl and Miriam Mary Rafferty McEvoy. She graduated from Fairfield High School in Fairfield, CT, and from Marietta College in Marietta, OH, with a B.A. in English. She also completed numerous post-graduate courses in English as part of her teaching career. She married Arthur E. Repke on June 29, 1963. She taught high school English at various schools and at many levels in the Fairfax County public school system for over 25 years.
Judy was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alexandria, VA and a member of Fairfax Country Club in Fairfax, VA where she was an avid tennis player. She was a leader of several book clubs, many charitable endeavors and was an active participant in the Old Town, Alexandria community.
In Eagles Mere, she was a member of the Eagles Mere Country Club and Eagles Mere Association. Judy was an active participant in countless outdoor activities in Eagles Mere, including hiking, tennis, kayaking, walking, running, golf, and cross-country skiing, among others.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of over 45 years, Arthur (Art) Repke, her six children, Scott (Carolyn) Repke of Malvern, PA; Thomas (Karla) Repke of McLean, VA; Janet (Gui) Kahl of Charlotte, NC; Michael (Amanda) Repke of Katy, TX; John (Amy) Repke of Alexandria, VA; and Ann (Andrew) Keane of New York, NY. She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren, her brother Earl (Vickie) McEvoy of Cambridge, MA; her two sisters, Dusty Burke of Austin, TX, and Phyllis Hyland of Denver, CO, and several nieces and nephews.
Judy had a tremendous energy, an unmatched spirit, and love of life. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many, many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held in Eagles Mere, PA in late July. Details will be forthcoming.
